0:23 – and I was totally excited but then
0:27 – a couple of months later our whole world
0:30 – was turned upside down with the
0:33 – Covid 19. So
0:36 – we were faced with some heavy duty
0:40 – challenges
0:41 – and one was how do we keep the port
0:44 – operated
0:45 – as you can see in the background we have
0:47 – our train ship working we have autos
0:49 – working
0:50 – so thanks to our great staff that we
0:54 – have
0:55 – they instituted some protocol measures
0:58 – so we can keep our workout workers
1:02 – working plus we have the cooperation
1:05 – from our from our
1:06 – union members to continue keeping this
1:09 – port growing so we were
1:13 – not affected but we also had another
1:16 – challenge
1:17 – we weren't affected but the people on
1:19 – the outside world were affected
1:22 – so then we decided
1:25 – unanimously the teacher on the board
1:27 – that we need to do
1:28 – something for the community who got
1:30 – affected by the virus
1:32 – that means our farm workers that means
1:34 – people that work at the
1:35 – stores people that work at restaurants
1:37 – so what can we do
1:38 – to help those people to make life a
1:41 – little bit easier
1:42 – so since march we have done
1:46 – the collaboration with other other
1:48 – agencies outside
1:49 – such as uh food chair uh then
1:55 – they played a very important part
1:59 – Project... Project Love out of Ventura,
2:02 – Campesinos Unidos, Clinica del Camino
2:05 – Real
2:06 – So since March we have had 42
2:09 – distributions of food on a weekend
2:12 – throughout the county
2:13 – from Fillmore to Thousand Oaks to
2:16 – Simi, Camarillo, El Rio everywhere we have
2:19 – we have been out there
2:21 – providing the essentials to the food
2:23 – they needed
2:24 – some were really affected in my
2:28 – particular case
2:29 – I lost my brother because of the Covid
2:31 – in Texas
2:32 – so we we felt that we needed to reach
2:36 – out
2:37 – and and do something okay so and we we
2:40 – have
2:40 – we have so we're gonna continue doing
2:42 – that we're gonna continue doing that
2:44 – so what I'd like for you to do
2:47 – please during this part time
2:50 – is reach out during these holidays reach
2:53 – out to someone
2:55 – to be a family member it could be
2:57 – someone outside of
2:58 – state it could be your neighbor please
3:02 – reach out and ensure some kindness
